Sun in Sagittarius: Hope is the Last to Die

On the 22nd of November 2021 at 02:33 UTC the Sun has entered the house of Sagittarius, the daytime temple of Jupiter.

What happens to the Sun’s light when it gets filtered through the lens of Sagittarius?

As usual, we start from the basics.

Sagittarius is the element of Fire:

Fire is that energy that rises towards the sky and brings heat and light to the world. It is active, full of energy to give (or else we wouldn’t have heat or light).  It brings in creation and destruction by exciting chemical bonds to break and form new ones.  Whatever withstands Fire unchanged is that which is the most stable in its form.

On a metaphysical level Fire is enthusiastic and passionate. Ready to face whatever life offers and not only, it keenly goes and seeks for more. So, by nature, it becomes a leading force, burning pathways where none were available before.

Fire is not easily controlled. From creation to destruction the step is just a scintilla going wild with spontaneous rebellious impulse. Arrogance is just that photon becoming a solar flare burning all tissues.

Sagittarius is a Diurnal Energy:

The fire energy of Sagittarius is outgoing, from the centre out. What is going on in the environment is more important than what is happening on the inside. The attention is focused on the object. The energy is there on the outside for all to see.

Sagittarius is Mutable (or Common):

The outward going fire energy as it burns through time and space keeps endlessly changing direction. It adapts according to the circumstances in the outside world. When Mutable Fire finds an obstacle, either it burns it into ashes, bringing its demise in that particular form and transforming it into another, or it turns around the object or even jumps over it and continues on its way. What is on one side is brought to the other side and vice versa. Mutable energy brings in the commonality factor. At the end of the day, everything will have some. Fire in Sagittarius is contagious.

Sagittarius is the temple of Jupiter:

Jupiter is that energy in the Universe that expands, radiates, and brings inner cohesion through resonance with the Divine nature of things. It is that energy that fosters faith in infinite possibilities.

Jupiter is intrinsically warm and moist. It is that just perfect combination of heat and temperature to favour growth. It is your sweet-spicy warm cup of Chai. The intrinsic heat and dryness of fire are moderated by a bit of moisture making it more suitable to life in its joyous expression of enjoyment and abundance.

Jupiter’s inner fire brings movement and buoyancy, his inner moisture brings connectedness with others and all of the creation fostering benevolence, mercy, and justice.

Sun in the house of Sagittarius:

When the Sun is in Sagittarius it brings our attention to that which sparks our joy, our enthusiasm. It asks us to move from inner contemplation to the restless exploration of all of God’s creation. Boundaries and limits are not accepted. There is always another green pasture to explore further.

The curious fire in Sagittarius spurs the need-to-know new cultures, philosophies, countries and customs, because the divine spark is in me just as it is in you, and we are all different facets of a Universe evolving. The broader the angle the better it is.

The little moisture through Jupiter rulership of Sagittarius brings connectedness at a human level. There is "empathy" although it is more on an intellectual and humanitarian-political level than individual soul type connections (there isn't enough water for that).

The mutability of Sagittarius brings the gift of versatility. Doesn’t work this way? No problem. Don’t give up. Let’s try something else. On the other side, it brings ever-changing conditions. The impulse behind the propulsion of the arrow is volatile fire. Once the fire has consumed the object targeted, it moves on.

Sagittarius in medical astrology:

As you can imagine from the description above, Sagittarius is like the sparking plugs of the body.

What gets us moving? What gives us the possibility to run and walk?

Our hip area!

This all falls under Sagittarius jurisdiction including nerves (sciatic nerve in particular), bones (hip bones and femur), all the muscles in the area including gluteal, inner hip and thigh, and arteries especially the femoral artery. This area houses the longest nerve and bone and strongest muscles in our body. Quite apt for a Jupiter ruled sign area of the body. Jupiter always sees big.

Together with Gemini, the opposite polarity, Sagittarius governs the modulation of the nervous system.  The Central Nervous System (whose one of its roles is co-ordinated response to stimuli) falls under Sagittarius. You need to be very talented in coordination to ride a horse and at the same time not only shoot an arrow but also hit the target.

Running amok, the restless energy of Sagittarius can bring accidents from reckless driving, falls from four-footed animals especially horses and hunting. Affliction to the thighs, hips and buttocks including sciatic nerve pain/diseases.

Diseases caused by the excess of fire and heat in the body can be high blood pressure, fevers, hysteria, mental derangement, insomnia. Restlessness can bring exhaustion because the body and mind can’t find a way to switch off and recharge. Or too much of everything causing the body to be consumed under the constant activity.

Summary:

Sun in Sagittarius offers us the possibility to move beyond our perceived limits, try new things be they ideas, food, people, situations. Sagittarius opens the doors of the stables we, out of habit, dwell in. With ardour shows us the boundless and bountiful meadows and with a grand gesture invites us to live life with a sense of infinite possibilities.

With Sagittarius you have more than one arrow to shoot but only if, through your inner Fire, keep the Divine Flame alive. Then Faith will never leave your side. And Hope will be the last to die.

Enjoy,

Hilary
