Sun in Gemini: Curiosity Made The Cat

On the 21st of May 2022, Sun entered Gemini, the daytime house of Mercury.

Passing from a Venus-ruled house to a Mercury-ruled one is always a shift well felt, especially from fixed earth Taurus to mutable air Gemini. It is like passing from tranquil walking enjoying the scenery to fervently texting and phoning friends and acquaintances worldwide as if one's life depends on it.

But then I am getting ahead of myself in true Gemini spirit. Why don't we start from the very beginning?

Gemini is Air Element

Air is the second lightest element after fire, in the descent of source energy into matter. If you think about it (pun intend), air is a mix of molecules with enough heat to move around. Air depends on fire for movement, on water for its main constituent, and earth for the miscellaneous array of particles air carries on it.

Air, by its nature is the element of communication, of forming bridges from one place to another, from one concept to another. Air is the element of conceptualisation. Imagine taking solid heavy earth and throwing it pulverised in space and viewing it from different perspectives. Air takes fire and breaks it into various observational points.

Air in the humour theory is considered warm and moist when in equilibrium. But this can change according to the fire and water elements present. In astrology, this is dictated by the planet and the sign involved.

I talk more about Air on Aquarius bog post.

Gemini is Diurnal Energy

Gemini energy has the nature of daytime. Its action is out in the world, outgoing, masculine, yang. It moves from the inside out.

Gemini is Mutable Energy

By mutable energy, we mean the energy shifts and moves unpredictably, adapting its pace and direction according to information coming from various circumstances.

Gemini is the Temple of Mercury

Mercury is the quintessential planet of adaptability and a trickster in nature. Yes, it has a baseline nature and is diurnal, masculine, cold and dry. But Mercury very much wears the clothes of the planet and sign it presently finds itself in. So, we can find a Mercury that is extra cooling and drying like in the sign of Aquarius or when in contact with Saturn.

Mercury finds his ideal temperature and moisture in Gemini, not too little not too much but still on the cold and dry spectrum. This gives enough detachment and less reaction (heated) potential.

Mercury oversees anything that has to do with transactions, be it in sounds, concepts, words, value, or money.

Sun in the house of Gemini

When the Sun passes in the house of Gemini, the decisive focus breaks. The goal becomes to move around as much as possible, gather and disseminate information. Coming under the authority of Mercury, the Sun becomes information-hungry, restless, changing and on the go.

Sun passing through Gemini has no special resources. The force of the Sun becomes fractured and dispersed in myriad forms, reflecting perspectives and images from and to any possible imaginable angle.

Perception of life through conversation becomes a mode of living. There is not much time to deeply delve into just one angle. Like a kaleidoscope, the world bursts into different realities, all possible simultaneously.

The fizzy energy of Gemini modifies the Sun's more steady and fiery energy to a highly-strung, extremely versatile, and alert drive. Fire from the Sun brings enough heat to the Air in Gemini to enable high-speed movement, quick intelligence, and on-the-go cleverness. Gemini brings to Sun not only sociality, communicative and linguistic skills. Gemini brings Sun just enough detachment to not become too entangled and lightly move on.

The fire in the Sun becomes hyperventilated, but there is no overheating as it becomes dissipated through various angles, shifts, and turns. Sun, in turn, yearns for more air, making it an ever-ending circuit of curiosity and creativity.

Gemini in Medical Astrology

The Gemini area in the human body includes the shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers. The bronchial tubes and upper lungs. Gemini covers the peripheral afferent sensory nerves, that is, those nerves that bring information to the brain from the outside world. General coordination of the body.

As you can see, Gemini rules over those parts of the body that at least come in pairs and branch in various directions. And like the other Air sign, we already discussed, Aquarius, the organs under Gemini's jurisdiction carry information. Breathing air informs our blood with oxygen and allows us to emit sounds through the vocal cords. The lungs serve as one of the exhaust pipes of our bodies, getting rid of unwanted or metabolised substances in the form of gas.

The nerves coming from sensory bodies register stimuli in the world outside the body, and relay information to the brain. General coordination enables the movement of the body in the outside world after all the data has been processed.

There is a quick coming and going dispatching of information, typical of Mercury's quality.

Gemini rules the general coordination of the body, shoulders, hands, fingers, and gesticulation. Think about all the complex manoeuvres, both physical and chemical, quick calculations and calibrations that need to be done in split seconds when such body parts are involved.

And think again, they act altogether in coordination. We take it for granted. Let us take the example of me typing here. It requires an intricate and complex coordination. The parts involved include my language centres (under Gemini), my nerves, fingers, eyes, and typing without looking at the typing board.

Like Aquarius, Gemini energy tends to be very sensitive to external stimuli, like noises, colours, and electromagnetic waves. Excess air can keep one caught up in the winds of the mind and not take adequate care of the physical body, like eating and resting regularly.

Summary:

Sun passes through Gemini and reminds us that life is not a monolithic granite but multiple, millions of points of awareness looking at life from various points of view. Curiosity is what makes us explore different arguments, travel to other places, talk to people, and learn foreign languages.

What would we be without inquisitiveness and playing with the world around us?

Sun in Gemini reminds us that perhaps curiosity did not kill the cat but made the cat, eventually.
