Sun in Aries: The Power of I

On the 20th of March 2022, at 15:33 UTC, Sun entered the house of Aries, the daytime temple of Mars.

The 0 degree Aries is a pivotal change in Earth's seasons. This is a special moment in the Solar year because it marks a shift from a dark dominated period to a light dominated period or vice versa in the Southern Hemisphere.

As usual, let us start from the building blocks.

Aries is an element of Fire

Fire is that power that rises towards the sky and brings heat and light to the world. It is the lightest and the least dense of the 4 elements and is thought to be nearest to the source energy. Fire can be compared to photons, active, full of energy and giving light and heat.

Fire modifies matter by exciting chemical bonds, causing them to break and subsequently form new ones. The matter that remains after passing through Fire can be considered in its most stable form.

On a transcendental level, Fire brings passion and enthusiasm coupled with a need for action, something to "burn" and not sit idle. In so doing, Fire becomes a pioneering force, blazing down pathways where none existed before.

Fire is not easily controlled; it takes one scintilla going wild with a spontaneous rebellious impulse, and destruction is at hand. Arrogance is just that photon becoming a solar flare burning all tissues.

Aries is Diurnal Energy

The fire energy of Aries is outgoing, from the centre out. What is going on in the environment is more important than what is happening on the inside. The attention is focused on the object. The energy is there on the outside for all to see.

Aries is a Cardinal Energy

Cardinal or Moveable energy is a power that can push things in a direction. It is a momentum that hastens events, brings on crises and transformation.

Cardinal energy puts an engine on first gear, from standing still to motion, resulting in a complete state change. It is the energy that sets the ball rolling.

Aries is the temple of Mars

Mars is hot, dry and irritative. Hot as in high in energy, action-orientated. Dry as in it tends towards itself, subjective vitality.

Mars is the power in nature that defines its existence through the tension of separation. It is electrostatic repulsion that permits the presence of distinct structures. We need division, or else we will never have separate living beings, species, cells, molecules, or atoms. We need antipathy, or else we might never arrive at the emergence of individuality.

Mars in ancient times was represented by the symbol of a knife, the Cosmic Scalpel because its energy penetrates, cuts and splits, for good or bad.

Sun in the house of Aries

Sun is hot and dry, brimming with energy. When Sun passes through the house of Aries, it feels rejuvenated. Aries house offers heat, dynamism, and an urge to start and run along with whatever catches the Fire's attention. In fact, in astrology, Sun is said to find its exaltation in Aries. In other words, Sun in Aries is having the time of his life.

Sun in Aries reminds us of the need and beauty of fresh starts in life. It is never too late to cut away from the old and start anew. In Aries through Mars, Sun blends consciousness with purpose and intention with action.

Sun in Aries prompts us to spur through stillness and the undefined, like a gem budding through the tree's wood. Courage to break away from the mould and define one's own shape and existence.

The dryness in Sun in Aries energy brings an independent way of thinking, not really giving much attention to what others have to say. Not much consideration is given to long term side effects of actions because the heat levels do not allow much time to stand still and deliberate.

The urge to action given by the cardinal energy makes Sun in Aries good starters but bad finishers. The heat of the Sun and Mars combined gives competitiveness and reckless courage: who will make it first? It also brings issues with aggressiveness or in your face energy: not my problem if you can't cope with me.

Aries in Medical Astrology

In Medical Astrology, Aries rules the head (the lower part shared with Taurus), especially the top of the head. It governs the cerebrum, the part of the brain that fills most of the brain cavity and is concerned with interpreting sensory impulses and voluntary muscular activity.

The cerebrum is also seen as the seat of consciousness plus acting as a fulcrum for higher mental abilities such as emotions, memory, reasoning, judgment, learning and intelligence. Basically, the core of who I am and, as a result, my actions in the world around me.

As you can intuit, the diurnal action of Aries is towards learning about the outside world. Through that curiosity, enabled by the sensory organs, a description of reality appears. Measures taken come from the impulse of the cardinal energy to change the state of things.

Most of the primary sensory organs are in the head, such as the eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. The head area is not exclusive to Aries, and there is a lot of overlap with Taurus. However, in general, the upper part of the head up to the upper jaw and teeth are mainly under Aries jurisdiction.

In the body, combining heat, dryness and going fast tends to bring acidic metabolism. There is a high oxidation rate which needs to be compensated with drinking natural water, cooling vegetables, nutrients and supplements that function as antioxidants. Particular attention should be made to maintain the brain cool and moist, avoiding excessive heat to the head.

The nerves, especially those located in the head, should always be kept well covered with their myelin sheath to prevent degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson and strokes.

Summary

When the Sun passes through Aries, it prompts us to remember who we are, our unique individuality, and our power to influence the world around us with our actions.

Sun in Aries reminds us that we create our own reality. If we do not like what we see, we have the authority and tools to change it. It cues us to remember the raw joy of being alive, doing our own thing. No excuses or apologies are accepted.

Sun in Aries dares us to remember and embody The Power of I.

Wishing you health, joy and prosperity,

Hilary
