On the 20th of April 2022 at 02: 24 UTC, Sun entered the house of Taurus, the nighttime temple of Venus.
We now settle into a more amicable and sustainable pace. This gives time for life to catch its breath and flourish luxuriously through the inwards going, fixed Venus-ruled Earth energy of Taurus. Yes, it is the "smell the roses" time.
Taurus is Element Earth
Earth is the densest of the four elements drawing energy in its most stable form. Earth, together with water, forms part of the energy of matter. Earth's action is to go downwards, sedimenting and creating stable structures we can count on. We can not only metaphorically but also literally put our feet on Earth.
The energy in the Earth element is significantly slowed down. In fact, we say Earth is cold. By that, we mean low energy potential; the molecules and atoms have only a tiny range of vibration, making Earth a relatively stable structure compared to the other elements. Being sturdy and able to delimitate and create containers, Earth holds the space for life to proceed and prosper.
Coldness makes Earth less reactive to external stimuli. On the other hand, Earth is more conservative and cautious. It won't risk toppling that which has taken so much energy to foster.
Being the most solid of the elements, it is the one we feel most with our senses making Earth one of the most sensual of all the elements. Just imagine touching a wall, a flower, soil, fabric. If you think about it, Earth gives us the ability to feel and perceive all the other elements.
Earth is dry. If there is no water in the soil, Earth will tend to crack open, with the ground becoming finer until it reaches sand dimensions. Dryness brings separation between the constituents. Metaphorically speaking, this brings distance between the observer and the observed.
Taurus is Nocturnal Energy
Nocturnal energy means energy similar to the momentum we perceive during the night. Everything feels more hushed, receptive, going inwards, Yin, contemplative during the night. The energy that is attention is brought back to the core, where it is nourished
Taurus is a Fixed Energy
Any energy in our dimension needs to move through space and time. Fixed power does so with the same frequency and amplitude. In other words, fixed energy keeps the same pace and strength from the beginning until it is stopped. This means that the end result is a magnification in a repeated sequence of the initial impulse. Fixed energy intensifies something that already is in existence.
Taurus is the temple of Venus
Venus is the planet of harmony with a tendency to bring moisture. Venus is mostly temperately cold and moist, but it can be temperately warm and humid in certain situations. For sure it brings relaxation. Its primary mode of action is nocturnal, inward going.
Taurus is the nighttime expression of Venus, so it emphasises, even more, the inward going action of Venus. Through Taurus, Venus expresses a moister version of the Earth element, bringing more cohesion and fertility. Metaphorically speaking, more water means more connection with the other, less objectiveness, and more oneness.
Through the steadiness of Taurus, Venus has the ability, power, and magnetism to draw into being creations that require time, dedication, and care. Venus, the lesser benefic, through the pragmatic sense of Taurus, has in her possession all the tools she needs to flourish in the garden of life.
Sun in the house of Taurus
When the dry and hot Sun passes in Taurus, it is mellowed with moisture and coolness. The Sun surrenders its fiery pace to a rhythm that sustains life with abundance. The attention is turned towards the sensuality of our senses and the world around us. More of the same is more Earth with the Venus touch in this case.
The more active side of the Sun in Taurus explores how best to use what is available to bring together more attraction and reconciliation. Decision making becomes an act of harmony and love, not in abstraction but in substantial manners one can feel through the skin, savour through the mouth, exalt through vision and enrapture through the ears.
Sun in Taurus is not a question of survival but an examination of life through the being and owning one's own body in the here and now. The outward going energy of the Sun is drawn inwards, "domesticated" so to rejoice in the ability of life to deliberate through attraction and magnetism whilst being in the confined space of our physical human body.
Fixity in one's purpose brings determination, constancy, and perseverance but also the risk of becoming stuck in the same spot. Too much creation can ultimately destroy nature itself.
Taurus in Medical Astrology
The Taurus area is the part of the body that starts from the lower jaw, including the ears, the teeth and the tongue, down to and including the neck area.
Let us reflect on these body parts and their functions.
The neck has an extraordinary capacity, given by multiple strong muscles intersecting in different directions, to be robust enough to support our head. And yet sufficiently flexible to enable the head to turn around without moving the whole body. Remember, the head is the seat of most of our sensory organs. The neck allows our "radars" to be shifted in space according to necessity and so to be fully present in the moment.
The lower jaw is the part of the mouth, together with the tongue, that enables mastication of food and the preliminary preparation of the food for digestion. The lower jaw and the tongue are the only parts of the mouth and skull that move, permitting the food to be ground into boluses. Salivary glands are triggered by this specific action and ensure that digestion starts and continues correctly.
Taurus energy is clearly described in the saying eat slowly to ensure healthy digestion. Slow and steady mastication enables the appropriate mixing and churning of the food and its sensory enjoyment. Actually, the sensory pleasure triggers the whole digestion thing, reminding us that Venus is the landlady of Taurus.
The larynx provides a gateway for air to flow down in the lungs, protection from food entering the lungs and acts as our human voice box where the vocal cords are present.
The thyroid gland is one of the first endocrine glands that starts working during embryo development, fixing the development body in this earth dimension. Thyroid hormones regulate our breathing, heart rate, body weight, muscle strength, menstrual cycle, body temperature, metabolic rate, cholesterol levels, digestive function, bone maintenance and brain development.
Basically, the thyroid gland enables us to be in space and time, regulating our rate of living according to our environment and needs. With its hormones, the thyroid gland allows power to be drawn in and regulated by the body by creating more mitochondrial bodies. It's worth remembering that mitochondria have their own DNA inherited only through the mother line. And again, we find the symbolism of Venus drawing in through the Earth components that need to coalesce together to create life.
Summary
When Sun passes through Taurus, it reminds us of our own power to create, be and live. Of course, we are spiritual beings, but we experience this Earth dimension through our physical body. Taurus reminds us that being spiritual starts by being in the here and now, full senses open.
Sun in Taurus reminds us that matter is only spirit made more palpable. Smelling the roses is just as holy as praying.
